As of about two hours ago, it is official. Peru finally has their new president.
The winner? Nationalist and so-called "Hugo Chavez repeat," Ollanta Humala. Sounds a little scary, right?
Needless to say, my host mom (an EXTREME Keiko Fujimori fan) was not happy today. I'm not sure if seeing her cry or hearing her swear for the first time was more unsettling.
Either way, she is not pleased with the outcome of her country's decision. Hopefully her Keiko salsa dancing CD can give her some much needed solace....she loves listening to her "controversial jams."
As for the political future of Peru....I will keep you all updated.
