From the moment I picked up Jared from the airport in Lima....I don't think I stopped smiling for 11 days straight. Well, I am still smiling actually. In reality, if I could describe his visit here, it would be.....one big perpetual smile. :) ...if that gives you an idea... :)
I am SO SO extremely thankful for the time we had together.....walking along the ocean boardwalk, having picnics peruvian-style, dancing in the Plaza de Armas, trekking through the jungle at night, zip-lining through the tallest canopy lines in all of South America, climbing Machu Picchu together, and experiencing Cuzco and all it's beautiful surrounding ruins.....the list could go on forever.
Here are some great, random, funny memories of our time together....
(Some may or may not make sense.) :)
-Jared's bargaining face....especially for postcards at 10pm...
-Best tea combo ever....Té puro con limon
-Randomly getting caught in a cultural festival parade anniversary celebrational fair in Cuzco :)
-Dancing in the Coriconcha historical Incan courtyard....definitely against the museum rules....oops.
-Hitching a free ride from 4 Peruvian cops who happily invited us to hop into their police truck and drive us through the rainforest....they told us they weren't that busy, just regulating the cocaine trade on a Thursday afternoon in the rainforest....no big deal.
-Sketchiest combi ride of our lives through the mountain "roads"....so exhilarating and so peruvian. All for only 3 soles. Plus, an unforgettable landscape as we whipped around cliff corners with little to no traction...
-Being force-fed killer coffee beans from our zip-lining instructors. For reals, they told us we would die in less than 48 hours after consuming them....:) We are living proof they are liars. :)
-SHARON. and AYSIA. and BOSTON ACCENTS. and COCO LEAVES. ......enough said.
-Yahúú fruit smoothies. (even with ice if you ask nicely...) :)
-Altitude sickness in Cusco. dang hill that we had to climb everyday to reach our beautiful hostal!!
-Jared sat in avocado. and had a green butt. enough said. (definitely made the picnic that much better.)
-Our "Italian-Peruvian"waiter Victor..."Adelante." ...time waited...."Adelante."....more time...."Adelante." Plus the "romantic" neon light creating our dinner ambiance.
-Sketchy night hike through the rainforest....our only guide? the railroad tracks and my camera light.
-Sprinting to the Machu Picchu bus line at 4:30am. down a hill in the dark....felt like we were in an epic film.
-Is your left big toe burnt?? I am a universal Mom, and I say, SUNSCREEN! Thanks, Shaaaaron.
-Jammin to Coldplay in the lonnnngest taxi ride ever. Loved it.
-BOTH of us getting hit on by the same Peruvian man. "No, random Peruvian man, we dont want to share a drink with you...even if you do love us because Obama is our president."
-Chilling with the most adorable little girls in Barranco. Filming them as they preformed Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber music videos for us....priceless. (also, loved the little girl that wanted to steal Jared from me.)
-Countless beautiful beautiful churches. Mass in Spanish.
-Tia making exceptionally great food when Jared was here....not to mention making his favorite cake and buying ice cream to stock up the freezer....think that she like him much? :)
-YL dinner with Enrique. Free wine. great pizza."Ohhh realllly? Exagggalely."
-Trip to Pisaq ruins. Is there an entrance? Are their bathrooms? Is this safe?
-Tio loving on the Sheboygan t-shirt.
-Jared ran out of toilet paper. and used our map of the ruins instead. very resourceful wiping materials. :)
-Cappucinos that took forevvver to get....but were absolutely amazing.
-Jared's love for ahí...on everything.
-Bembos shenanigans. Mexian burger, tequenos con guac....and soccer tennis in the background.
-The worldly Finnish couple on the train who's daughters spoke atleast 8 different languages.
-Is the PUCP backpack zipped??
-Your shoes are really dirty. Let me shine them for you.
-World's fastest breakfast consumptions. (siempre pan con mermelada to go!)
-Deadly pineapple banana split. Maybe he is allergic?
-Taxi driver teaching us "love words" in Quechua :)
-The Cuzco street that smelled heavily of urine. Too bad we had to walk through it everyday to get to our hostal.
-Naps in very green grass.
-Are you Alberto? ...He was wearing an American t-shirt.....so we figured, maybe?
-Parque del Amor. :)
-How much does a heater cost for our hostal room?
-Listening to people try and pronounce "Jared," get frustrated...switch to "Jeremy," become more agitated....then settle upon "Geronimo" with much satisfaction.
-The truffle of a lifetime.
-Does the zoo exist? Everyone has their own idea.
-11 hours exploring and loving on Machu Picchu!! (this includes Jared's power nap in the middle of the ancient ruins. nice one.)
Thank you to all who made it possible for Jared to come and visit me! :) Pictures to come! There certainly are PLENTY of them, that's for sure!
